About CBT Training

CBT Training Centre of the North has worked with many individuals and organizations to train & supervise clinicians in cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), compassion focused therapy (CFT) and other forms of training.

Brief intervention CBT training for primary health care providers and crisis workers is an appropriate alternative to the intensive CBT training and can be offered via special request.

CBT Training Centre of the North helps to prepare individuals to meet the basic standards required by the Academy of Cognitive Therapy (ACT) and/or the Canadian Association of Cognitive and Behavioural Therapies (CACBT) for certification/credentialing.

Training can be offered over one-day or several days and can be tailored to a specific diagnosis or individual needs of an organization.

We also provide workshops for organizations, clients, the public and students on multiple topics including psychotherapy, workplace wellness, 2SLGBTQ+, DBT, charting, socratic dialogue, PTSD, policy and staff development processes among others.

Art &
 Emotion

Integrated in Full Day Workshops

Bring us to your organization for a transformative day of therapeutic art workshops designed to help you explore emotions, reduce stress, and find calm through creative expression.

For clients working through difficult emotions or as a staff wellness event or gathering, integrating art and emotion can be a wonderful way to release or connect. The below can be offered as a series or independently. Whether you're painting a serene sunset on wood, crafting your own macrame wall hanging, beading a unique design, or creating a traditional dream catcher, each session offers a mindful approach to self-reflection and healing. No experience is necessary—just come as you are and be open to the power of art as a tool for personal growth and emotional release.

Painting

Painting a sunset on wood offers a serene and reflective way to explore emotions and cognitive processes. The act of capturing the fading light and shifting colors of a sunset on the different types of wood invites individuals to focus on the present moment, reducing stress and anxiety. As they paint, they can reflect on the symbolism of transitions and endings, which may parallel personal experiences or challenges. Through this process, individuals can gain clarity, reframe negative thoughts, and cultivate a sense of calm and acceptance.

Painting

Macrame

Create a beautiful macrame wall hanging to call your own while we explore emotions in a therapeutic way. Learn the process of tying different knots to make patterns and rope art. Macrame can be a relaxing and meditative way to quiet our minds while also giving us something to focus on by making something unique for ourselves or a loved one.

Macrame

Homemade Loom

Learn the art of loom beading while creating a unique design from your own imagination while we explore emotions in a therapeutic way. Learn the basics of loom beading while joining me in practicing mindfulness and patience. Crafting can be a soothing experience while also providing a great way to engage and share experiences with others.

Homemade Loom

Dream Catchers

Learn about the history, lore and meaning behind the dream catcher while creating one for yourself or a loved one. A traditional indigenous practice to release negative feelings and dreams while we sleep, the dream catcher is a beautiful way to create a focus for releasing our negative emotions. Creating this dream catcher in a safe spaced therapy based environment helps to release and process emotions in a positive way.

What our trainees are saying

Quote

Stacey and her associates have created a truly accessible and unique training and mentorship program. Their provision of such a service here in the north has afforded clinicians and supervisors alike, an opportunity to ensure their teams training needs are met with flexible and realistic timelines. The collaborative learning afforded by the supervision pods sparked creativity and engagement amongst colleagues and ensured our clinicians were ready for their applications for certification with their preferred body. The mentorship has resulted in personal and professional growth for our clinicians and has ensured that clients are accessing high-quality services aligned with the expectations associated with the delivery of structured psychotherapy and the CBT model. I highly recommend this program for entry-level and seasoned clinicians alike.

We have had Stacey Roles on site at our agency to offer CBT training to all staff. Not only was her presentation style easy and approachable, it was evident from the morning of day one that Stacey is very knowledgeable in her practice of CBT. She shared many examples and was always checking to ensure that staff had understood the content before moving along. I would highly recommend Stacey for your onsite training needs!

I have received training, both in-person and virtually, from CBT Training Centre of the North and so have many of my staff, from Manitoulin Island to Attawapiskat.  The virtual learning was seamless and very inclusive, making it a very cost-effective alternative for more remote areas where there often isn’t the depth of knowledge and experience to provide appropriate supervision to staff learning new modalities.  CBT Training Centre of the North was able to provide solid teaching and supervision allowing my staff to apply for certification with the Academy of Cognitive Therapy and to more competently serve their clients.
