In an initial session the clinician will review your intake forms, assess the nature of your difficulties, understand what your individual needs are, and determine the most effective method of therapy to target your treatment and discuss the therapy options with you.

Following the initial appointment, additional appointment durations may vary according to patient/client needs.

The team of multidisciplinary clinicians at Roles & Associates Psychotherapy are all certified cognitive behavioural therapists, but each individual clinician is also highly trained in a variety of other therapies and specialties. It is our mission to provide our clients and learners with research-based interventions and treatments to help alleviate the effects of trauma, mental illness, and everyday life stressors.

We work collaboratively within our specialties and the recovery model to empower clients to optimize their mental health.

Our approaches to therapy include:

  • Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT)
  • Dialectical behavioural therapy (DBT)
  • Exposure and response prevention (ERP)
  • Compassion focused therapy (CFT)
  • Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT)
  • Prolonged exposure (PE) therapy
  • Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR)
  • Brainspotting therapy™ (BSP)
  • Cognitive processing therapy (CPT)
  • Meaning therapy (logotherapy)
  • Radically open dialectical behaviour therapy (RO-DBT)
  • Psychodynamic psychotherapy

The length of time varies from person to person, due to each individual’s unique situation and needs.

However, for most issues, evidence- based therapies such as cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT),  generally can last between 6  and 20 sessions, with each session being approximately 50 minutes in length and taking place once per week.

For those who want to see benefits earlier in the therapy process, we also offer Therapy Intensive sessions. A therapy intensive session is goal-driven, longer in duration and occurs more frequently over a shorter period of time. It is a large dose of therapy in a short period of time.

Therapy Intensives may be attended for a limited number of sessions, generally over a one- to four-week period of time, but of course can be individualized by client need.

Although psychological services offered through private practice are not covered by Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP), many of our services are fully or partially covered by workplace benefits or extended health insurance plans. We also accept Non-Insured Health Benefits (NIHB) and clients involved with Victims Services. Additionally, any non-reimbursed fees may be claimed on your income tax returns as a medical expense.

We accept all major credit cards as forms of payment. Your receipt will clearly indicate the name of the therapist along with their professional designation and licence number, as required by insurance companies.

We do not require referrals to see our clinicians, however we do accept referrals from physicians, lawyers or other health care professionals.

If you are interested in therapy services, please contact us directly and we will be happy to schedule an initial appointment and answer any questions you may have.
